Seminar Report: Youth Skills Development Seminar

1. Introduction
The Youth Skills Development Seminar took place successfully at the Bosmont Recreation Center on 02 June 2025. This seminar, held in collaboration with the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and SayPro, Bosmont Library, Bosmont Recreation Center, CoJ eLearning (our key partner driving digital empowerment and self-development), South African Youth Project (SAYPro), University of Johannesburg Centre for Entrepreneurship / Johannesburg Business School Enterprise (UJCFE / JBSE), and Bosmont Clinic.With CoJ eLearning taking the lead in promoting digital skills and online learning.forms part of the Youth Month activities aimed at empowering young people with knowledge about career pathways, practical skills, and opportunities for future growth. The event was supported by the City of Johannesburg Region B Management.
The session was facilitated by Sihle Sibiya, with participation from UJ representatives, SayPro, and local learners. The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) conveyed their apologies for not being able to attend.
2. Presentations and Key Messages
University of Johannesburg (UJ)
UJ stakeholders provided valuable insights into how learners can gain admission into the university and succeed in various fields of study. The following faculties and study areas were highlighted:

Mr. Ian McCloy from UJ emphasized the importance of achieving good Matric results, noting that strong academic performance opens many doors at tertiary institutions. He engaged students by asking about their career ambitions and encouraged them to work diligently to fulfill their dreams.
