Occasion: Global Mother’s Day Commemoration – SayPro
Good day, SayPro family, colleagues, friends, and most importantly—our phenomenal mothers.
As we gather to celebrate Mother’s Day 2025, I want to begin by honouring the immeasurable value that mothers bring—not only to families and communities—but to knowledge, to development, and to every system we are working to improve.
As SayPro’s Chief Research Officer, I spend my days immersed in data—data that helps us make better decisions, data that guides our impact, data that tells the story behind the numbers. But some of the most powerful stories we encounter are not found in spreadsheets or reports. They are lived. They are felt. And often, they begin with a mother.
Mothers are our first researchers. They observe, they listen, they experiment. They learn by doing. They pass on knowledge that is both ancient and adaptive. Every lullaby, every word of encouragement, every creative way of making ends meet—is a form of lived intelligence.
This year’s SayPro theme, “Empowered Women, Empower Generations,” is deeply rooted in evidence. Research from around the world affirms what we already know in our hearts: when mothers are educated, their children thrive. When mothers are economically empowered, communities are more resilient. When women lead, nations are stronger.
At SayPro, our research doesn’t just chase numbers—it seeks to understand people. And through that lens, we’ve seen the extraordinary impact of mothers in our programmes. We’ve seen women returning to learning after decades, mothers launching microenterprises with confidence, and young women inspired by their mothers’ strength to break generational barriers.
Our job in research is not only to measure change but to amplify the voices behind the change. And mothers’ voices—often under-acknowledged—are among the most powerful agents of social transformation.
So, today, as we honour mothers across the SayPro community and beyond, we do more than celebrate. We validate. We uplift. And we commit—to building a future where no mother is left behind, where no voice is ignored, and where knowledge continues to pass powerfully from one generation to the next.
To all mothers—thank you for being the original researchers, the everyday innovators, the quiet revolutionaries.
Happy Mother’s Day 2025.
We learn from you. We grow with you. We stand because of you.
Thank you.
