Purpose
To expand and strengthen collaborative efforts aimed at upgrading informal settlements and backyard communities, all participating employees are required to draft at least one Strategic Partnership Proposal. These proposals will help initiate or formalize working relationships with key organizations across sectors and serve as a basis for future funding, implementation, and co-accreditation agreements.
Proposal Objective
Each proposal should outline a new or potential partnership with a public, private, or nonprofit organization that:
- Supports the development, upgrading, or service provision in informal or backyard housing
- Contributes to capacity building, policy reform, or technical expertise
- Aligns with SayPro’s mission and SCSPR-81 outcomes
Required Structure and Format
Length: 3–6 pages
Format: PDF or Word document
Font: Arial or Calibri, size 11
Spacing: 1.15 or 1.5
Visuals (optional): Logos, diagrams, or tables to enhance clarity
Suggested Proposal Template:
1. Proposal Title
E.g. Strategic Partnership with [Organization Name] to Improve Sanitation Infrastructure in Backyard Communities – Gauteng
2. Background and Rationale
- Brief description of the problem the partnership aims to solve
- Why this partner is relevant or strategic
- Link to community needs or research findings (from SCSPR-81)
3. Partnership Objectives
Clearly state 2–4 key objectives of the collaboration. Examples:
- Deliver modular housing units in high-density informal settlements
- Provide community-based training for certified sanitation technicians
- Support land tenure regularization through legal aid collaboration
4. Scope of Work & Roles
Outline the responsibilities of SayPro and each proposed partner, such as:
